General Public reinterprets the character of an upscale English pub through the warmth, energy and social atmosphere of an American brasserie, with subtle references to a traditional steakhouse and the restaurant’s own design history. Boreal Architectural delivered the custom millwork and architectural wood package that helps bring this layered hospitality concept to life, including extensive wood cladding, custom cabinetry, feature bar millwork, wood ceiling elements, integrated booth seating and general wood finishes throughout the space.

Design Intent

The interior was designed as two distinct but complementary environments. The main floor features deep green tones, warm architectural woodwork and comfortable banquette seating, creating an intimate setting suited to long dinners and cocktails. The upper level shifts into a softer, peach-toned atmosphere with a distinctly nostalgic character.

The millwork provides the visual continuity between both floors, allowing each space to maintain its own identity while still feeling connected to the overall restaurant concept.

Custom Restaurant Millwork & Cabinetry

Boreal Architectural manufactured and installed the complete restaurant millwork package, including custom bar cabinetry, illuminated bottle displays, architectural wall panels, wood ceilings, built-in service components and custom booth surrounds.

Curved profiles, decorative display arches, integrated lighting and carefully aligned wood grain add depth and character while supporting the practical requirements of a busy restaurant. Each component was fabricated to balance design intent, durability and day-to-day hospitality operations.

Premium Wood Finishes & Craftsmanship

Warm wood finishes establish the restaurant’s rich and inviting atmosphere while complementing the green upholstery, stone surfaces, decorative lighting and peach-toned upper level. Careful attention was given to panel alignment, grain continuity, clean reveals and transitions between the millwork, seating and surrounding architectural finishes.

The result reflects a high level of precision manufacturing and installation across every visible detail.

Final Results

The completed space feels layered, nostalgic and highly distinctive without becoming overly themed. Custom wood cladding, restaurant cabinetry, feature bar millwork, wood ceilings and integrated booth seating create a cohesive architectural framework that connects the restaurant’s contrasting interiors.

General Public demonstrates Boreal Architectural’s ability to translate a strong hospitality concept into custom commercial millwork that is visually memorable, operationally functional and built for long-term use.
