Mattel Canada’s new headquarters was designed as a contemporary workplace where brand identity, architectural detailing, and craftsmanship seamlessly converge. Working under GTA General Contractors, the Design-Builder, Boreal Architectural delivered a comprehensive architectural millwork package that included premium commercial millwork, custom cabinetry, architectural wood finishes, paint-grade doors, feature wall systems, and integrated interior architectural elements throughout the office.
Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed into a refined reception environment anchored by a striking custom central display and wall partition display system featuring acrylic globe showcases the brand products. Precision-fabricated and seamlessly integrated into the architectural wall assembly, each display niche celebrates Mattel’s iconic product heritage while transforming the reception space into an immersive branded experience. The feature wall balances museum-quality presentation with clean contemporary detailing, establishing a memorable first impression that reflects the company’s global identity.
Throughout the headquarters, a warm palette of natural woodgrain millwork and architectural wood finishes creates continuity between executive offices, collaborative workspaces, meeting rooms, employee amenities, and circulation corridors. Custom cabinetry, built-in storage solutions, workstation millwork, kitchen millwork, and integrated architectural casework were manufactured to exacting tolerances, delivering clean lines, concealed detailing, and exceptional fit and finish across every space.
A defining architectural feature is the extensive use of custom vertical wood slat feature walls, carefully fabricated to introduce warmth, rhythm, and visual texture while subtly defining departments without compromising the openness of the workplace. The slatted millwork acts as an elegant architectural screen, creating depth and transparency while maintaining uninterrupted sightlines and allowing natural daylight to flow throughout the office.
Complementing the millwork package are custom paint-grade architectural doors fully integrated into the glazed partition system. Flush detailing, concealed hardware coordination, crisp reveals, and carefully aligned frames create a minimalist aesthetic where the doors appear as a seamless extension of the surrounding glass architecture. The result is a sophisticated workplace that balances openness, privacy, and acoustic performance without disrupting the overall design language.
From concept coordination through fabrication and installation, Boreal Architectural collaborated closely with GTA General Contractors and the broader consultant team to transform the design vision into a meticulously executed workplace.
